Hermann Park in downtown Houston is a very popular location for engagement photography. One of the great things about digital photography is that it allows us to do things to our photographs that we could not do, or were extremely difficult to do, with film. While some photographs are blurring the lines between photography and free form art, a traditional form of photography is making a come back in black and white. From the 16th century when camera obscuras were first developed until 1826 there was not a way to create a permanent photograph. 110 years later in 1936 Kodachrome film was released and color photography became somewhat available for anyone with a 35mm camera, although World War II saw an increased development of color films. As color film became more accessible and popular, black and white photography began to decline. Fortunately, black and white is now making a come back. Many couples are opting for at least partial black and white photographic coverage of their wedding. Even for those that do not ask for black and white photographs to be taken, digital capture allows for the wedding photographer to convert any color image to black and white, and to match almost any style of film. If you and your fiancé have not considered black and white photographs for your engagement and wedding photographs, it may be something you want to look in to. The online software that we use at Heavenly Images Photography allows our clients to view all preview images in full color and black and white and easily order either. Source: History of Photography Timeline How early should we start looking for a wedding photographer? The standard answer is that you should select a wedding photographer between 12 and 18 months out from your wedding. We tend to book on a shorter schedule, typically between 6 and 12 months. Last summer we photographed a wedding 3 weeks after meeting with the bride. Generally the earlier you select your wedding photographer the better. Most brides and grooms tend to experience an increase in stress as their wedding day gets closer and having your wedding photographer booked will help to reduce the stress level. You also are more likely to find the photographer you want by booking well in advance.
